In a world of children, be a child

A few days ago I had the opportunity to help a community in San Pedro Sula, it was a great satisfaction to be able to help others and see many happy faces–personally, this is one of the greatest satisfactions in life.

Before starting, let me tell you a little about my country.

I live in Honduras, one of the countries with the greatest poverty in the world, 70.5% of people live in poverty, recognized worldwide for many bad things. But there is something that few do not see … Hondurans are happy with what little we have.

When I was in the community of Rio Blanco helping people who lost their homes because of the floods in the community, the first thing that I thought would be very sad, many people called me to pray for them, at that moment I said in my mind, “God, I do not want to be a pastor!”, it was my moment that I had an internal laugh. But something that really impacted my life was seeing a group of children who were in the river, even though they were not in the best circumstances, they do not have the resources that many of us have, they could say they were happy, as if there was no problem.

My reflection to all this is sometimes we are so busy with our problems that we forget to enjoy the smallest things, we become the typical adult who goes frustrated and drowned in small problems, in this life our heart should be like that of a child, full of innocence and humility.

In a world of adults … be a child, the kind of child who knows that his father solves all problems and still enjoys the little things that give us life.

Jesus said: “Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to those who are like them.
